has anyone ever done this on trucks? is there any performance benefit, drawback? kinda like the duramax setup. gm did it so in my mind there has to be a reason for doin it.

...ever seen in the engine bay of an h-1 hummer...veeeerrryyy narrow...center mount is for clearance...buuuuut military engine is supposedly a more powerful set-up...cause an h-1 is a heavy pig...jd

The new M1114 6.5 turbo engines we were putting in were stamped 185hp. The NA ones for the older M998 series were 165hp for 6.5 and 160hp for the 6.2. We did see some mismatched rebuilt engines labeled 180hp for the NA 6.5, but don't know if it was a valve cover off different engine or an improvement.
Your very right about the clearance problems. The center mount is the only way they could fit it in, and the manifolds were kinda small, so I would figure more of a power hindrance than help.

well ats just came out with a new pedistal for the duramax that will fit the hx35. so that with a custom intake and a set of headers with 18:1 comp should make for a stout motor.
