What would be the benefit of having an intercooler on our trucks? My kid is into tuners and has a universal sitting around.

it would help lower intake air temp. but since only makin south of 18 psi boost, aint got alot to gain. Unless your pullin long steep hills. im thinkin water/meth would be a better bang for your buck way to go. plus you could transfer the water/meth setup to a different truck should you ever upgrade.

My dad got an intercooler from a front end loader at work. anyway we were hoping to install it somewhere other than underneath the truck (like most people are doing). We were thinking of rebuilding teh front bumper and sticking it in there. But some pictures of other peoples designs would be nice. so can anyone post some pictures? i'll post mine when we get a chance to install

Nice job on the install.... looks like it was a fair amount of work, but nicely done!

Thanks, yes it was a lot of measuring, and testing for clearance before i could go for it.
I got me a used, dented hood to work on so i didnt "disable the truck".
It took me about 2 monts to get it ready and painted.
Lot of work, but it came out nice.. :)

Well, it was an effort that paid off with a unique look and a job well done.
Did you ever monitor intake temperatures before and after the intercooler install, and did it provide a really noticeable increase in performance?

Thanks again, got a lot of positive comments about the look.
Yes, i measured the intake temp before, and after the install with GMTD scan tech program.
I did the test at the end of last summer, i drove the same route without, and with the IC.
And i measured 20c lower Intake temp with the IC.
And the truck performed better at full trottle up a 1km hill where i tested it.
I will do another test when the spring arrives, as i installed a pull fan aften the last test.
