What temperature should my truck be running at? When i run around town it is about 170 or so. As soon as I start to use the engine on the highway it goes up to 210 and I get worried. I have a plow on it as well, but the slightest incline and the temps go up. Put a new temp sensor in it, (low coolant light comes on periodically) and fluid levels are good. Thanks

Do you mean plow frame or the snow plow. If this happens with the plow on take it off.Does it still happen? If you run with the plow all the way up over the road like a lot of guys do you are going to get hot the plow blocks all the air flow. When I have to run over the road I have the plow just off the ground. Learned that a long time ago. Also a bad fan clutch could add to the problum!! If this happens without the plow the first thing would do is replace the termostat or termostats (don,t know how old your truck is?) with one(s) from SSDiesel Sup. or a GM dealer with OEM ones. Termostats from Gates,Stant,NAPA, aftermarket, etc. will cause this condition. They are a different style and don't open enough to pass enough coolant when you are making horse power! A Robert Shaw aftermarket is the correct style if you can find them. Learned that a long time ago also. My 91 Burb did the same thing with the 6.2NA I had a aftermarket termostat in it fine around town put it on the highway pulling hills oven at 10 deg. the temp guage would move up to 215deg. I put a AC Delco in it it never goes over 195 deg now and can be a 95 deg day it also has a Banks turbo on it now. Another thing could be is a pluged radiator. Good Luck
