Anyone know a good duramax forum. I'm looking at possibly moving and getting 40 acres, but that would stop me from getting a newer truck next year. I wanted to look into their mileage to know if it might still be a possibility. I have gathered they range from 17-21 average mpg stock, but noone is specific. I don't know what they are doing to get such different mileages. I would need to increase my mileage a bit to justify the purchase. I am stuck with 16mpg highway 60mph with no load right now and 13 mpg pulling 2 horses at 70mph. I would like to start using the truck for my monthly 1000mile round trips since we have 4 dogs and have our first kid on the way. Everything won't fit in the minivan if we have to put another seat in.

Anyway if you have any suggestions let me know.

04 dually 1 ton 2wd 3:73s 208,000 miles my brother claims a little over 18 running 65 mph...in town/suburb mix about 15-17.He warms them up for 5 or so min in the morn..thats completely stock..no box or exhaust...he thought around 13 mpg with a mid 20's ft camper and gear..beer...beer and a cooler or 2 of beer..he calls it camping..more like passing out drunk in the woods.

getting rid of the duallys and those fenders sticking out,you could prob get close to 20 mpg in a SRW truck. I know putting a topper on mine helped a little. He loves the Duramax.I was completely impressed. So much quieter than my Dodge with a v-8 powerband.
