O/D loss while towing

my truck when towing even a emptycar trailer will shift out of overdrive while crusing, then will not go back into o/d until i pull over and shut it down.. only threw a code once and it was for the torque converter..has anyone else had this problem. i know u should not tow in o/d but i only shift to it once im up to speed on the highway.. any help is appriciated.

Used to have that trouble. Got to the point it was doin it with nuthin hooked to truck. My torque converter was junk. Bottle of lucas trans fix bandaided (quit pullin stuff with it also) the trouble till i pulled tranny, rebuilt it, and replaced the torque converter.

You can tow in overdrive. Just make sure your parts are good enough to hold up. Buy a new converter that will hold up like a single disc billet. Then get a light valvebody upgrade. You could do all that yourself for less than 1000.00.
