Hi guys is there anywhere I can tie in a real oil P gauge to check and see what's up ? Fired new rebuilt motor and started ok but NO oil Press on dash ? New block, bearings, rings, oil pump ! Is there any diff.in the plug that goes in the dist.hole if it was a gasser as I have a short body and long I thought it was only for clearance reasons ?
Thanks for any input ! HELP!!!

In that hole you called a distributer hole is where the oil pump drive goes. I don't know if your long block came with one or not. That might be one of the things you have to change over from the old engine. DON"T run it till you ckeck it.

YES oil pump drive is in place !I'll run a ftg off the block somewhere near oil system and tie in real gauge I guess and see ?

did you prime oil pump, and prelube system before dropin oil pump drive into place and fire up engine? If you didnt, then kiss your bearings goodby. Saw the aftermath of someone doin this on a 350 gasser. not pretty. Soon as oil/engine started to warm, the pressure dropped off the gauge. I wished the guy better luck next time. BTW if you complain enough to the right people at autozone when you screw up a crate engine, they will give you a new one to try again.
I would pull ops and tap a mechanical gauge in there. and pull oil pump drive and use a power drill and spin the oil pump that way to see if you can build any oil pressure, before rollin the engine over, specially now after it has run and suspecting no oil pressure.

you need to pre oil that engine. The oil goes from the pump to the oil cooler back to the block to oil galleries to cam bearings to crank bearings and FINALLY to the rod bearings. You can preoil with a pressurized tank of oil to fitting where turbo gets it's oil or remove adapter where a distributor normally goes. There is a hex drive shaft that runs the oil pump. 5/16, I think. Rig up a drive with a drill and run this shaft to build oil pressure. You really ought to have an old adapter that you can remove the gear and shaft from it, as the grooves on bottomdirect oil from one galley across to the other. Otherwise, you won't get complete oiling. A pressurized oil container system would be simplier for a one time deal. I expect that you, at least, damaged some bearings with running with no pressure. You should drop pan and check first before you possibly score that crank. Good luck.

Who rebuilt it? Did they get get the neoprene collar on the pump? Did they go through the pump and not tighten the bolts? Did they take off the sump and not put it back on for some reason? Did you ever have oil pressure? Do the rest of your gauges work? Fuse maybe? There is something in the ESS hole to pick up from the cam and actually drive the pump right?
I got a bit of silicone in a 6.2 once. No oil pressure. Pulled the sender, pulled a strand of silicone out of it, and poof! it worked.
