hey guys well i had almost a full day trying to install my new downpipe i have 4in. from the end of my exhaust up to the down dipe wich iby the look of it i thought it was factory downpipe and all joints welded. so i cut the downpipe on what i thought was 2 a half or quater so i could get it out unfasened the clamp it almost fell out on top of me.i then tried for over an hour or so to get the new one in would not fit i could get it in to the turbo but only if it pointed down not up bent my inner fender would not go in took it back out measured it along side the old one then realized it was 3in. measured it to be sure 3in. but it was all bent and dented. looks like i will have to cut it or remove my crossover pipe and trany support to maybe get it in so for now i reinstalled the old one and put wrap around patch on it has anyone changed the downpipe without these problems looks like im doing something wrong need help thanks

i had no trouble at all. slid right in, but i had whole exhaust off when i did mine.
Hows your engine mounts? if they are bad and sagging, probly wil make changin downpipe a real pain, and wont have proper clearance for the 3" downpipe then.

Jepp, JD_countryboy is right. Got my exhaust system from warpspeed and it fitted without a problem. Okay, the downpipe is a bit tight and much easier to install with a second person. One at the turbo side and the other one from below the truck.
First install the downpipe, but don't tighten the clamp, than install the rest of the system and after ALL is mounted, start to tighten all clamps and hangers, starting with the turbo clamp goint to the back till your at the exhaust tip (if ordered or included).

ya i guess a pic. is worth a thousand words lol i think i will cut the down pipe somewhere on the 3in. pipe then put it in and use a barrel clamp to fasten it together.then use a 4in. barrel clamp to join the two pieces of 4in. with a good hanger at clamps 4 support thanks for the help.

dont know if you cut your downpipe or not yet, but you really shouldnt have to. Deepnding on where you end up cutting the pipe, clearance issues will prevent you from using a band clamp to clamp it together. Space is tight, but it should fit without any issues if mechanical things are as they should be. Im guessin you have tried turning and rotaing and wiggling the pipe in different directions whil threadin it up thu to turbo?
Another thought, can you tell if crossover pipe has ever been changed? Original pipe had wrinkles in it ( at eash bend, not mandrel bent) and was known to crack. If someone has replaced it and didnt bend it like factory then they might have caused you clearance issues, and this downpipe may not work without propper crossover.

no the crossover pipe has wrinkles on both ends so i think it's original.but looks like its in good shape. the down pipe also looks original it has lots of wrinkles and dents and flat spots on it BUTit is 3in. all the way from the turbo to the 4in.not 2 and a half like the everyone says when they advertise them but such is life hopefully the new one will fit with no wrinkles and dents i will get a buddy to help me and try again see what happenes cutting it is my last resort thanks for the info

Check your motor mounts if they are bad the motor will be leaning and that might be your problem

thanks for all the info guys i took it to the muffler show and they told me not to waste my time changing it as it already had a 3in, to 4in. on it with a few dents in it and if i changed it just 4 a few small dents i would prob. lose some tourque because of it and also i think I read somewhere in this forum or another forum that it was true. so i will try it for awhile see what happens thanks again

The factory down pipe is horriable and not 3in to 4in.
