Well here goes, First time to post on this site, I have spent a considerable amount of time reading here though.
I have installed a new long block in my 1994 K 3500, the old one over heated pulling a load of horses and the # 3 cylinder took a LARGE drink of antifreeze so out with the old and in with the new. The old had 245000 on it.

So back to my issue, New long block is installed & everything is hooked up & I am ready to crank er over & blead the injector lines & fire this baby up.

1.) I turn the key to on & I have no SES light & no glow light, no point in cranking on a new engine with no SES & Glow - I check all the fuses they all check out good so i start back over all the connections- batterys, grounds, main harness at back of fire wall, glow plug controller ect.

2.) While i am checking all connections out i realize that when key is turned to the on position my lift pump runs all the time- i am thinking the OPS or Relay are bad, replaced both and lift pump still runs all the time when key is in run position. However if I crank engine over I show oil pressure on gauge ( but engine has never started) and then when i turn key to off the lift pump runs until oil pressure drops off. OPS is working then I think ?

3.) Also i discover that when key is turned to run i dont get any clicking from glow controller, I do have 12 volt power to the large red wire coming in to controller & 12 volt power to small red wire ( pin A ) on controller but no power to yellow wire ( pin B ) which is from the ECM-Right ????

4.) Fuel solenoid does not clink at all when key is turned to run but if I remove it & hook it direct to 12 volt power it will click and operate plunger.
Ok here is the weird part, if i test power to the fuel solenoid I have 12 volts on the hot side & 7 volts on the ground side-really no kidding & this is whether the fuel solenoid is plugged in or not, installed or not.

By now i am thinking I have a short some where & it is backfeeding back through the ground but i am running out of ideas for places to look- please help!!!!

What i have done- I have, as previously mentioned replaced the OPS, Lift pump relay, Lift pump, new glow plug controller & new SSD dual element fast start glow plugs, # 9 Resister and 2 brand new 800 cca batteries and I replaced the ECM all with no change.

The injection pump has about 30,000 miles on it & the PMD was I belive replaced at the same time as the IP. I just relocated the PMD with SSD's FSD Heat Sync located on the intake crossover & and i do have 12 volt power to the pink wire going to PMD when key is on.
I ran a ground from the Heat Sync back to the IP where it was origionally and have also cleaned up the other grounds & even added some new ones.

Much of what I have done has been from either correspondence with Walt at SSD or through reading on this site. This site is wonderful and i have learned a lot about my truck from it.

Sorry about the long post, I will try to be breif from here on but wanted to give you enough history.

Any help you can offer would be much appreciated as i am near to max frustration not being able to hear this new 6.5 sing.

Please help, I posted some time ago but have had no reply.
Can anyone tell me what tells the glow controller to send power to the glow plugs-is it the ECM ?
Also is it the yellow wire on the glow plug controller ( Pin. B ) i believe, that comes from the ECM ?
What wire and where would i find it, that the ECM gets power from ?

Thank You In Advance

On the right cyl head by the fire wall I think the second from the rear intake manifold bolt , has some grounds on it. These are for the PCM. If these are not clean , tight and GOOD they will mess up all kinds of things. That's where I'd look first. When you are shure there good check, them again!!!! It sounds to me like a ground problem some where. Good Luck!!

How many wires are hooked to your battery positve terminal on rt side? My truck has a smaller (like 10 ga) wire and the large starter wire in the same connector on the battery. For some reason one day the smaller wire fell out of the connector. And i think it made the same trouble you mention. (no strt, no glow, no fso click) Maybe this will help. Specially if you mixed it up and hooked it to ground. Good luck.

Well you guys hit it right on the head, when i installed the new long block i overlooked the (2) small ground wires that are tied together and attach near tranny dipstick tube, they were buried back between the firewall & back of the head. I hooked them up & all of the gremlins went away and she fired right up. I cant belive I overlooked them & i am amazed that they caused so many things to weird out.

Thank You so much for the help & for taking the time to reply.
What a great place to go for a wealth of info on my truck.:D
