Its time to replace the injectors. I am loosing power and mileage sucks.(12mpg) Old injectors are beginning to knock also. SOOOO one gives 25 hp ,miser, and the marine 45hp. Both cost the same and I am looking for mileage. Does this mean go with the miser? Can a person do this job without the socket Walt sells? I am on a budjet but dont want to hurt the new injectors.

I have removed them with a standard deep socket, but be careful to keep it straight so not to break the small return nipples.

Walts socket aint nuthin special, just a deep impact socket. And it works. Now if you want a real socket, get the special Kent moore injector socket for these. Thinner wall, not as deep as a deepwell, 3/8 drive (i think) and a hex on the top for a wrench, to aid in injector removal/replacemnt in vans. I never changed any in a van, but uncle did and said the socket paid for itself in the saved busted knuckle costs. Leaves you a bit more space in those tight surroundings. Good luck

Thanks for the info guys. I'll look into it. I am goig to check to see if all my injectors are working properly before geting into the change. A guy I know tells me there is a way of checking them??? I did find a small exaust leak today checking it over and believe that is the noise I am hearing. I have 80000 miles and everything tells me to change them before more trouble down the road. I like preventive maint. to keep the tow trucks out of business.

See the Chev in my signature, has had nothing done to the engine, diesel lab said " why do you want the injectors serviced, has a problem?" I said no, so it is still untouched.
