Got in my truck this mourning to leave work (work at night) and the truck crank strong but no start. Will check to see if lift pump suppling fuel to engine. Also the glow plug light on dash works also. it stays on for about 7 seconds shuts off then as I crank it flashes a few times as the truck turns over. It sounds like a fuel problem to me. Any suggestions?

Use a paper clip and check for codes, open bleed on top of filter and crank, fuel or none or air. If this checks OK, PMD failure.

drove my impala ss to work last night. got in my truck and it crunk up. It had a strong crank but seemed to start hard. As it was cranking gave a slight hesitation as if it was going to shut off then it idled back up to normal. Seems as if the engine was starving for fuel or something. i drove it home with no problems the fuel filter keeps coming to mind. But will check to see if lift pump is working. Also since the 6.5l useses a lift pump does the pump handle all the work of sending the fuel to the iP? or does the sending unit inside the tank help out the lift pump?

As soon as I figure this problem out im going to invest in a fuel press. guage. I will get a 3-guage pillar set with the boost, pyro, and fuel press. guages. wont need the tranny temp becuase i dont tow anything.

there is no fuel pump inside tank. Should only be the pump mounted on the frame rail. Check your grounds and your batts. I had that hard/no start with strong crank speed. I had 1 bad ground, and 1 batt was junk. The good batt was spinnin the starter, but didnt have enough amps left to open fuel shutoff solenoid on ip. No fuel = no start.

Both my batts arte good. Bought both last year, they are optima batts and are both 1000ca. My last pair of optimas lasted 10yrs and were only 910cas. Could be the terminals loosening again. been about halve a yaer since I checked. The bad ground I will check for. Where was youre bad ground located on youre pickup. So the the only thing in or tanks is the leveling syetem for the fuel gauge? I thought there was a sending unit beacuase walt sells the filter sock for our tanks. Can that sock be installed without dropping the tank?

Sender unit sends fuel level signal to the fuel gauge. Tank has to be dropped to change the sock.

drivers side neg batt cable was not making good connection to the intake.
