I was wondering if anybody else was having any problems with their brakes going almost all the way to the floor sometimes and then other times it is up at the top where it should be???
1996 Chevy K2500 6.5l turbo diesel Ext. Cab Long Box.
Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks Scott.

Well it does not go like that... It could be good for 1-10 stops then go down or could be the other way????
I did notice if I jab the brakes they seem to work better more often...
I think it is the master cylinder.
Any comments would help...
Thanks again
Scott.

If you hold your foot on the peddle with the engine running does the peddle drift down? Pump it up hold then drift down again? Push down on the peddle then back off a little don't release it push down again keep doing this. Can you pump the peddle down? Yes to any of these questions replace the master cyl.

Well when I push the brekes and they are soft I do not feel them go down any more than when I originally pushed them down. And it does stop just not as good as if they were at the top like they should be. I have not tried testing them with the truck or with the lines pinched (been to cold out)....
Thanks for all of the help... Keep em comin'.
Thanks Scott.

No the peddle does not drift down... I can not pump them up... But if I have to hit them hard or push them down harder to stop, more often than not that are good after that for a few times.... I want to believe it is the proportioning valve?????
Any thoughts???
Thanks Scott.
