I was driving and the engine shut down. I coasted to a parking lot and could not restart. I pulled a return line and cranked to see if I had IP pressure. It started and pumped fuel out injector return line. I shut her down and reconnected return line. Restarted and it shut down after 2 seconds. Every time I pulled the return line off and relieved the pressure, the truck would run for 2 seconds. So I next tried running it again with the return line placed in a bottle and it would stay running.

Next I changed the fuel filter, jumped the lift pump to fill filter reservoir. Closed bleeder and tried it again with the same results.

Why does it run with the line disconnected only? Note. The return line I disconnected was the front driver side injector return line to the metal return line. It had a lot of pressure each time I pulled it.

Thanks for any help, I can not work until I get it running again.

Seems like it is blocked between there and the tank. Don,t know why it stops the engine, but try a search, someone had a similar problem, around 2 years ago.

There was an obstruction in the fuel return line. I started at the pump and worked my way back. It was between the back of the engine to the flare connection by the lift pump. A blast of compressed air from under the truck to the disconnected line at back of engine dislodged it. What it could have been is a mystery. Anyway I am off to work.
