Which letter in the the vin tells you whether you have a V, F, or S engine. Is their any Physical or Internal differences between these engines?

The eighth digit in the VIN is the one that tells you what engine you have. The major difference between the S and F is the F is the heavy duty motor. Essentially it is an emmissions issue, as the F doesn't have EGR and is rated at a higher horsepower than the S at 190 HP. The V is the code for the H1, I beleive, and they are externally different in how their turbo mounts, but all internals are the same.

V = don't know this code
F = HD engine = 140KW / 190 PS - NO EGR - side mount turbo
S = LD engine = 132KW / 180 PS - EGR Valve - side mount turbo
P = ? existing code, but don't know where used this engine

I was looking at my 3500, noticed the "F" in the VIN and was thinking it was the 190hp version. Then i wiped the dr side valve cover off, and the sticker says 200hp. It's a '93, guess it's the last of the mechanical injection trucks from what i've read.
