I previously moved the CDR hose from dumping into the turbo and ran the hose down under the engine. This makes my truck run better but the air filter is fouling much more rapidly from the oily smoke. Is the best option to run the hose farther under the truck toward the back, put some kind of container on the hose to catch the smoke, or can the CDR be eliminated altogether with no complications?
Thanks for the help.

There was a reason for drawing air from the front of the truck, less filter contamimation. If you block off the vent hole, the pressure will blow the rocker covers off. Make the hose longer.

Thanks, I'm headed out to get it now.

Ran it way back to within a couple feet from the rear wheel. Much better now, thanks.

I am curious as to why one would do this ,to stop it from going into the turbo inlet

the cdr system is similar to the pcv system on a gas engine.it pulls crankcase fumes and routs them into the turbo inlet.this causes the oil film in the turbo inlet.the system is an emmisions component for less air pollution.look at older diesel trucks, they have what is called a road draft tube.pressure in the crankcase if vent is blocked would cause blown seals, and the oil would cling to the moving parts and not drop back into the pan.
