What's your thoughts on going from the 94+ electronic system to the older fully mechanical system ?
A friend of mine keeps telling me to swap a 6.2 IP onto my 6.5 . . .
Is this a better way to go ?

Another thought, will the 4L80E still function after swaping drive by wire to drive by cable ?

No, you need a new ECM from a 93/94 auto truck. They got no electronic on the pump, but they got a "stand-alone" auto tranny ecm.

I see so it can be done and it can be made to work.
Now Is it worth while ?
What's the pros n cons to it ?
I'm guessing it was once popular as its been suggested to me many times.

Here in germany, some people did it, cauz to get rid of the "PMD-Problem", but it is not a cheap solution. New/reman IP, throttle linkage incl. cable, new/used TCM (transmission control module), etc.
I think, never touch a running system. IMO the weak point is just the PMD. To eleminate this, get a longer cable, put it on a cooler an move it away from the heat into airflow. Most recommed to mount it in abumper hole or below the bumper or to the splashshield/skidplate out ot the engine bay. Mine is attached to the cooler which is mounted between driver side batt and radiator. Ther is a lot of airflow while driving AND a lot of airflow from the engine fan.
I think with or without PMD is the only diff. Perhaps with you could get a little bit better fuel economy and with the right outher parts more HP, but that not proven.

Mods/Upgrades:
1. D-tech PMD #9 Resister bumper mounted.
Well then if that's the only advantage then i have that solved long ago :D

Jepp, I don't know any other advantage than the missing PMD.
Okay, there are a lot of marine applications like Peninsular Diesel, which ALL use a non electronic IP. So if you decide to built a high power engine like this
for example, perhaps you should do the conversion ! :D

whats "high powered" ? . . . Most fully built 6.5's i have seen only turn 300-325hp and they all have over heating issues

High powered is up to 340HP. Peninsular Marine engines. They use a mechanical IP.
Since Garth edited my last post, try google and you'll find peninsular.

Yep them marine 6.5s do turn a lot more power.
Lots of them seem to claim 350-450hp, but turning those kinds of numbers in a truck will cause it to melt down.
Factory cooling seems to only handle 225-250hp and with all the fancy upgrades you can push 275-300hp and from what I read 325-350hp they start over heating in trucks.
It seems not only do the 6.5 marine engines make more power but they also seem to be more reliable so there must be some differences between the 2 engines.
I found the 6.5 in my exp, problematic and sluggish.
I'm use to its lack of power but am determand to make it reliable.

I would guess, there a lot of cooling fluid for the marine engine - qcean sea water.
I think that is the reason why they got more HP and are reliable.

My 6.5-T seems to reliably get 20mpg:D, and leave me walking every 3-5weeks :(
but i quit driving it daily i been driving my Jeep Comanche with great success
but winter is coming and so i'll give the old 6.5er another shot at being driven, but it sure looks good sitting lots of chrome n polished aluminum :D
