Just wondering if anyone is interested in an ignition override system. Similar to Law Enforcement vehicles where you can push a button and pull the key out with the vehicle still running. The system is deactivated by the brake pedal, which would shut the vehicle off.
I got one figured out for the Duramax that just requires 5 circuit breakers, 6 relays, and a momentary switch. Making it work for the 6.5L would be easy, but one thing you really want if you are going to let it run while you're out is a high idle.
I haven't seen any write-ups on how to install a high idle switch for the 6.5L. So if anyone can find one let me know, or if you are interested in the IGN override system let me know.

Search "high idle" or similar words, on this site, how to do it is posted.

Thank you, I found it, just took a little longer searching.
Here is the diagram if anyone wants it. It is for '94/95 trucks. I would assume the IGN wires would likely be the same color for '96 and newer but I don't have a diagram for them. Just make sure all of the required circuits are powered through the Relays. Also for '96 and newer the high idle will require an additional relay to change the signal from power to ground for the ECM.
For '96 and newer the ECM pin is B7 in the center connector, and it requires a ground signal instead of the power outputted from this Ign Override.
I have not done this to my '95, because it is in the process of being sold. But I will be doing it to my Duramax as soon as life settles down again.
They have decided to induce my wife on Saturday, so most likely I will become a Father this weekend.

Just in case anyone was wondering, I now have a baby Girl. Born Sunday August 22nd.
I also just sold my '95 6.5L, which will be missed. But that means I can finally put a little money into my Duramax. Including ordering the parts to install the Ignition Override and High Idle.

Congratulations on the addition to your family.

Just finished installing the Ignition Override with High Idle Mod. Push the button the RPMs jump up to 800 and you can take the key out and it still runs. Press Set on the cruise control RPMs jump up to around 1250. Press Resume and RPMs jump up to 1700.
I did change how I hooked it up. I used the power feeds going to the IGN switch instead of running new wires to a batt terminal. I also ran power to my momentary switch from one of the IGN output wires.
I have a new Wiring Diagram the way I hooked it up along with a pic of my relays once they were all wired in, and a pic of it in action once finished and put away, but they are too big to post right now. You could see my button behind the shifter, no key in the ignition, and the RPMs at 1700, if you could see picture.
Didn't take too long to install, just a lot of soldering and a roll of electrical tape.
Almost forgot, it all stops when the brake pedal is pressed. It can be used as just a high idle switch that will disable when you hit the brakes, or as an Ignition override that if the brake pedal is hit before the key is turned back on it shuts everything off.
Took 3 hours to install. Cost about $50 including the expensive ECM terminals ($12 for 2) because the local dealer couldn't find them.
Only had to tap into 7 wires. 6 under the steering column and 1 above the brake pedal.
I've used it a couple times now, works great. Should be great for filling up with fuel.
I do have pictures of my daughter, but haven't got them off from my wife's computer yet. She is really cute. Everyone that sees her comments on how cute she is. Just in the last couple weeks she has been smiling in response to someone talking to her more and more everyday. Yesterday we drove 4 hours down to the twin cities VA for a doctors appt. She loves riding in the car and was an angel all day. While we were at the VA people would come up to her and talk to her and she would smile at every single one of them.
Today she has been really fussy all day, making up for yesterday I guess.
Anyway if anyone is interested in adding an Ignition Override or High Idle just let me know, I would be glad to help. The Ignition Override can be done to any vehicle (cars, trucks, vans, minivans, whatever), only the Ign wires change, and the High Idle can be done to almost any diesel and a few newer gas trucks.
Have fun.
