I have a 6.5 non turbo in my 86 toyota and i am trying to find a good aftermarket turbo. I am also building a 6.5 that should have around 500hp i have no clue about aftermarket turbos for a 6.5.

As I told somebody else here who was looking for a good turbo upgrade , i have a holset hx35w off a dodge cummins that i bought when i thought i was getting a GM-8. The turbine bolts up and should be relatively easy with a little modding to adapt it. I have a 6.2, (which do you have as well? the 6.5 was never a NA, but if its a 6.5 in a 'yote you might have had it taken off)
i don't think your turning 500hp in a 6.5 you will need 18:1 pistons and all the cooling mods to even get close to that number.
Also the first thing i would do too is replace the harmonic balancer so you don't brake your crank.
I'm not gonna use the holset and im looking to sell it, pm me if your intersted.

There were NA 6.5's. My Hummer was NA, in fact, when they went from 6.2's to 6.5's in the Humvees the 6.5's were all NA. It was in certain configurations that they were available as turbos before all new delivery Humvees were turbo from about 96 on to the Army. In civilian mode, many fleet vehicles, like P30 step vans, were non-turbo for both longevity and maintenance simplicity. There was also a diference in comp. ratios. Check reputable rebuilt 6.5 sites, they will list both NA and turbo longblocks.
Just thought I'd let you know.

This kinda brings up another question thats been rolling around in the back of my mind, is the 6.5 physically bigger then the 6.2? what is the bore and stroke for each engine?
I was thinking that they may be the same size but they call it a 6.5 because of the extra "virtual displacement" you get from the turbo.

There is a displacement difference. The basic block is the same, ie: the heads interchange. When I get home I'll look in my manual and tell you what the difference is. I think it's stroke, but being over 40, I don't trust my near photo recall nearly as much as I used to! Now, where did I leave that manual. . . . :D

the 6.2l is a 379ci and has 155hp, and the 6.5 is a 396ci and has 170hp. i think that the bore is bigger but thats all know is different about them.

Yes, the bore is all thats changed, same stroke, kinda like a 305 versus a 350, most parts interchange on later 6.2's to 6.5's, there's some companies selling 6.5's that are bored out 6.2's. They clame its safe to bore that far, but I dont know, it may be like a BBC and can be bored alot. I kinda think the 6.2 block would be better, as far as more meat in the main webbing that got bored out bigger in the 6.5.
Those few cubes really wont help you that much anyway I believe.

6.2L: 3.98" x 3.80" BxS, 6.5L: 4.06" x 3.82". Now here's the interesting part, 6.6 D-Max 4.06" x 3.90". Rework the big end of the rods to fit the 6.5 crank, Get an aftermarket Co. to develop 4-valve DI heads that fit the 6.5 block using the stock intake and new better flowing exhaust manifolds, use the common-rail injection system off the D-Max, (R&D is well under way for developing a stand alone engine controller for the D-Max for custom hybrid installs like a D-Max in a '56 Suburban) and we now have a "stock" 6.5 that puts out 320 HP and 630 lb/ft without upgrades, and can use all the D-Max performance tuning that is available aftermarket.
Think about it, a 6.5 "dinosaur" that kicks the cr-p outa P-jokes and "Doggies"!
