Hey guys - My starter bolts just keep loosening up. I've got the "bracket" installed and used new GM bolts torqued to 35 ft/lbs. Starter sounds fine. (no grind or metallic sound). The parts guy at Chevy said not to use lock washers. My mechanic buddy says all Ford (sorry to use bad langauge here) starters have them. Anybody tried them on a 6.5 before?
Thanks,
Bill

Thanks Doc. I've had so much trouble with bolts I've been hesitant to use the loctite which would make broken bolts harder to get out. But I think I'll try it. Once my first bolts broke it's been a battle ever since. No problem 'til then.
Too bad. With the new block heater she's been starting like summer. Two new heads in January ($2500) new injector pump November ($1900) that's $4400 this year alone. Just found a 99 gasser exact same truck as my 95, even the color is the same for $4000! Might go look at it today. Truck is running great . . . just can't keep the starter in it. Yes bracket is connected and I count to 20 before any second attempt to start. Sorry about the rant. Trying to get myself psyched to crawl under the truck again at 14° here in Chicago.
