I know diesels can be hard starters on cold days but mine is the opposite. On cold days it starts right up and runs great. If the temps get above 60, I will have to spin it forever to make it crank. It WILL crank if the battery holds up long enough. I have recently replaced PMD, OPS, IP, Lift pump, and am in the process of replacing injectors. Any ideas?

On cold days, it cranks. It won't crank on hot days. I live in Georgia and it really does not get that cold here.

Yesterday, Friday it was 6 degrees here and your worrying about starting 60 degrees and above!!! Good way to make friends!!! All kidding aside my first guess would be the PCM temp sender is out of calibration. The signal it gives to the PCM is that the engine is warm(just been shut off) and the PCM does not do what it should for a cold start. Like a longer glow cycle and advance the timing for a cold start. Below 60 degrees it's cold enough to to thing it's cold. Easy to check unplug the temp sender in the water manifold where the t/stat is and see if it starts. If it starts good replace the sender! When the sender is unplugged the PCM thinks it is real cold and gives you a long glow and advances the timing for a cooold start. How does it start with the engine warm like 20 min shut down? How does it run at first after it does start cold?? If you do have to replace the sender get if from SSD Supply or a GM dealer, OEM ones work. I have had trouble with after market ones. Hope this helps Good Luck

Diesel Dummy one other thing when you say cranks I hope you mean starts!! Spinning and cranking are the same thing in my book. Or maybe you people down in that warm part of the country say things differently??

Sorry sixnickle. I have to spin the engine for a while to make it start.
