Did you put in 180 deg. thermostates? The dynamax fan upgrade requires this. Also did you trim your shroud to make room for the fan or remove it. The engine needs the shroud. 210 deg is not hot for this engine. It should cool super fast with the new fan. Good luck.

Perhaps the gauge is wrong.

If it is that hot you should be able to really feel it with the hood up. When mine used to get that hot towing in summer you could really tell it ,couldn't bare to work on it till it cooled down. I would check the sensor if it does not seem like it is really that hot. Would assume your coolant level is full as sensor can give a false reading if caught dry. I did all walt's upgrades and on my original radiator as well and struggle to get it to 180-it runs noticeably cooler than with the 195 single. I did right before winter so I am anxious to tow next summer and see how it performs. It has made me wonder if the ECM is going to enrich mixture at lower temp as a warmup mode or something and consequently hurt mpg. Does the brain trust have any input on that?

Yep i put in the 180 thermostates and i did trim the shroud. It doesnt get hot just drivin around town it just does it when im loaded heavy any thing lighter than 8000# it does fine but if try to load it heavier than that it gets hot . I tried to pull my trencher wich is about 12000# it would get up to 225 before the fan would kick on.

Hey guy, as Grant questioned above, are you sure the gage is not the problem? You're making assumption based on what a $15 sending unit is telling your gage. First, have someone plug in a scanner and check the correlation between the sending unit that communicates with the gage and the one that communicates with the computer. I have seen 25 degree differences in the two the sensors ie: gage shows 220 and the computer shows 195 degrees. Secondly, as someone else has questioned, does the motor seem as hot as the assumption it is? At 220 degrees, there is a ton of heat comes rolling out from under the hood. If you have one, try shooting several different spots on the engine and radiator and hose with an infrared heat gun to confirm temp.
You may be cooler than you think dude.

...who makes gages for just about everybody{volvo-white,pete,kw} claim electric gages are only accurite to within 20%...
