which has better preformance the mechanical or the electrial injection pump. I have the 93 mechanical pump and was wandering if the newer trucks were capable of more power or not or if it just cost more to upgrade them.

I have a 6.2 with the mechanical db2 pump, it has its own set of issues just like db4 pump has. I think both a capable of producing the same amount of power, the mechanical pump just needs more attention and you have to stay on top of the adjustments. The electronic pump takes more information into account and varies according to engine temp/air temp and load... As I found out a few days ago the mechanical pump has 3 modes, on off and cold advance. The computerized pump will vary continuously according to conditions. I would say its probably not worth a few hundred dollars to upgrade. Considering that you probably need to install the heat sync/relocator and a chip to get the same amount of performance as the db4.

Chipped db4 vs. Tuned db2: The db4 might give you better MPG and cost twice to three times as much. Banks claims a turbo 6.2 is more powerful then a turbo 6.5.

Lets think about this ??? The electronic pump to turn it up $500 PCM mech.pump turn screw $00 . Elec pump needs Heat-Sync kit $400 mech pump doesn't need one $00. Elec pump needs a wire harness, sensors, etc, that could be ? $ 500/800 not to mention the gray hairs and hypertension trying to get it to run and run good. All the big horse power 6.5s out there are running mechanical pumps!! So what do you think????
