Hey my fellow 6.5ers. I have been chasing this stalling issue on my truck now for way to long. Finally a code popped up. Code P1216, which I do know is fuel solenoid response is too slow. It supposed to be .75 milliseconds and I am around 1.80 milliseconds. Just want to make sure that changing the injection pump is the correct fix for this issue, and if so would I be better off switching to a mechanical pump or staying with the electronic one? Any advice and opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How old is your PMD?
I had that code plus, "pulse width too short" and many others. Far cheaper than an injection pump.
Mechanical ip is quite a commitment: different gas pedal, ECM (TCM), cruise control, etc.
My $0.02.

To be honest I have no clue how old my pmd is, I bought it off a buddy for $30 for a spare.

Can the fuel solenoid be changed without pulling the intake manifold? I know just from working on the truck things are pretty cramped in there. Truck is still in the shop till morning and tyhen maybe I can take a look and locate the solenoid.

Truck is still in the shop till morning and tyhen maybe I can take a look and locate the solenoid. There's a BIG difference between the Fuel Solenoid and the fuel SHUT-OFF solenoid. But I doubt either is the problem. You probably have a bad PMD or bad wiring to/from it. You can eliminate the fuel shut off solenoid as the the problem by putting your hand on the silver vertical canister on the front of the IP while someone turns the key ON. You should feel and hear it click open. Wiggle the wire loom (the pink wire feeds 12v to the FSS through the PMD) and see if the FSS clicks again. It should not. The pink wire to the PMD/FSS is sourced off the IGN and only uses the PMD wiring to route to the FSS. It changes from pink to black or blue leaving the PMD connector. Get and install a GOOD known to be working PMD before you start tearing into the IP.~FH

OK everyone, I finally went and purchased a new PMD and installed it and I am pleased to announce that all my starting/stalling issues have went away. Hell my cruise control even works again. Thank God I remote mounted that sucker or I would prolly still be working on that sucka. I am a completely happy 6.5er again!!!!!!!!!!!
