Will using an oversize head gasket on an engine that hasn't been milled drop my compression ratio to something more conducive to a turbo? I fear my head gasket is leaking due to disappearing coolant (heads cracked?) and Figure if it needs to be done I might as well upgrade.
How much volume is there in the prechambers? Using this gasket will give me .125 CI more volume volume, I'm curious as to how much this will drop the compression if it is negligible.

i dont know about the gaskets but if your heads were cracked you would know it.................................

This is an interesting question...
I have been contemplating how to decrease compression without a piston change. Considering the high ratio, any added volume should drop it a decent amount.

For every .010 of extra gasket thickness over stock, you will loose one compression ratio. And you are right, a little does a lot because the starting ratio is so high.
You could fly cut the top of your pistons .030 and get 18:1 compression. and you'd only have to scuff the cylinders with a ball hone and replace the rings. Of course you would have to have the rotating assembly rebalanced. Still, much cheaper than a thousand dollar set of low comp pistons. But, you'd have it disassembled anyway and it would be a mistake to not check the bearings wile you're in there. Remember to mark everything and put back in the same place.

$1000.00 set of pistons. Where did you get that from? Call Peninsular Diesel I got mine for $700.00 Thats still alot of cash, but it is just the tip of the iceburg if your going 18.1 comp. Trust me Cost vs. H.P. is hard to justify.
