Torsion Keys

Anybody use torsion keys for their trucks. I have a 97 K2500 Extended Cab Short Bed

I usually try to answer a lot of you guys questions the best I can and have fun doing it. But I have a question???? What is a Torsion Key????? I'm clueless!!

well I know what they look like...but I actually don't know how or where they're installed (other than you "crank them up").
I understand they're a cheap way to lift the front end of the truck, but puts the drivetrain under a lot of stress and causes poor handling. For all I know, I wouldn't use .... but maybe someone will give us another opinion.

I think what your looking for is the tool that you use to install or remove your torsion bars. Autozone has a tool loan program you buy a used tool, then they will return it no questions asked as long as you don't break it. I think I have an episode of Trucks! on my tivo when they lifted a 1500 4x4 and they had to relocate the torsion bars so I can see what the tool looks like. I didn't pay much attention to it because my pickup has coil overs in front and every other vehicle I have has a solid front axle.

You can crank it up, but if you want to do it right get a lift kit... or if you really want to do it right convert to a straight axle in front.
