How many miles can you expect out of a starter? Mine has about 170,000 on it right now.

That's a good question It's hard to say. I would have a lot to do with the type of driving, 170000mi with a lot of short trips is a lot of starts. But with a lot of long trips that could half as many starts. Other things like a good starting engine that flips over and starts without a lot of cranking. Good hot batteries all the time. I do think they come with only so many starts in them you just have not used them all up yet. I also think you got your moneys $$$$ worth out of it and it dose not owe you a thing. I hope this is not bad karma for you and you didn't jinx your self!!

If you get a warm sunny day with nothing else to do.....

I have 263,000 on my stater and still going strong.

i plug mine up whenever it gets below 40 F and change glow plugs as part of standard maintinance and and have only put one new one on in 233000 miles
