eratic fuel guage

Usually right after a fill up my gauge starts jumping back and forth, as high as it will go down to about halfway then back for a few minutes. Any ideas on why? grounding problem? or tank level sensor problem? It happens only after a fill up.

2 things, 1st don't fill it or 2nd thing replace the sender. The sender is basically a rheostat that has a bad spot in it. Your bad spot happens to be at the top.
