They do a cummins conversion for an H1, The cummins engines are so great I would do it in a heartbeat.
I imagine it would be easiest to swap the entire drivetrain. Radiator fan to rear t-case output yoke.
I Its not much harder then welding in new engine mounts and making a t-case support.

Cummins could be a good engine in a Dodge - I would never put a 6-banger in my truck. Put a Duramax engine in ! Okay, it isn't a GM engine also (Made by Isuzu) but GM sells it in their trucks, so "i would stay in the family".
Only my 2 cents !
Sorry, but i hate Dogde/Chrysler/Mercedes. You can give one of ther products for free, i would sell it and buy an other make.

Try November or December issue 2006 (I think, I'll check for sure) of Diesel Power. A guy swapped in a Cummins into a 96 4x4 3500. It's not a simple as one would think.

another question lol. with the extra weight of the new cummins motor, will the stock IFS with a 6" lift hold up the weight or do you have to put in a straight axle conversion, and if u need a solid axle will a dana 44 be enuf or would u need to use a dana 60?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
thanks

there is a guy in montana with a shop and that is all he does is swaps he has a web site google it for auto world repowers. i am going to do the swap soon it is some work but it is not all that bad this guy has the motor mounts for sale and the brackets to bolt up your stock alternator and a/c comp. there is also pics on the web site of trucks he has done he even put a cat motor in a old ford pick up. hope this helps let me know your progess this is a lot better idea than a 6.5 diesel like we all have:cool: :D :) :)

I don't know how much a six five fully dressed weights but i am assuming 1250lbs, the cummins weights around 1500, Figure it would be no worse then putting a plow on the truck.
AEV Conversions does a hemi retro fit. It might be a small step to going to a 24valve commonrail.

on diesel page one guy was showing the weights of each and the 6.5 weight is adout 750 lbs and the cummings was close to 1150lbs:) i have talked to folks who has done the conversion including the guy at auto world that does the conversions full time and he said that the front end on the 2500 or 3500 has to be reworked once or twice a year depending on use of the truck:)
