2 3/4 pipe is what it is and 3in pipe is better. Depends on if youve got a high flow cat/muffler or what

They say for our engines 3-1/2" or 4" is about best with a good straight through high flow muffler or none at all. This will decrease EGT and make for slightly quicker spool up on the turbo. Don't forget the down pipe, if you are putting together your own exhaust as it seems, as that is pretty restrictive from the factory. Hope this helps.

2 3/4 straight pipe can reduced restricton like exhaust 4" with muffler and cat?what is better air flow which results in lower engine temps? same flow?

Think about this
If you double the diameter of a pipe you increase its flow by 4X

yes 2 and 2/4 will help if you have no cat or muff but 3.5 or 4 is better. remember that the way a diesel works is like a gasser runing wot all the time so air flow is one of the best upgrades you can do.

I don't know the numbers for exhaust pipe but think about this! 2 1/2" Fire hose efficiently moves 300GPM (gallons per minute) 3" 500GPM and 4" 1000 GPM. And with the stock down pipe you have a big kink in that hose also!!

I got 3" no cat.
Has anyone taking off there muffler and noticed much difference? I did notice a small difference when i took off my cat so i figure the exaust should be good to.
Opinions? How loud is it without it. Does it sound like the dodges?

I knew when i typed that i shouldnt have sworn. Damn blasphamy.
Sorry guys it will never happen again.
Just wonder how much louder it is with out exaust. I know it should help a little with egt's and maybe a 5hp gain but really what i would like even though it means shit alll it that big growly diesel sound.

Just kidding about the dodges.
I don't know how much louder it would be. I run a 3" downpipe without cat and a 4" system from Warp Speed Performance with a straight trough muffler.
Nice sound, loud, but not to loud. If you want to hear it, i could sent you a soundfile (made with a MP3-stick, so not the best quality) via email or
