Hello,
I,m new to the site but have a problem with my '97 6.5 .
Several years ago it started stalling and would crank back up I replaced the PMD with a used on and relocated it. About 6 months ago it started to stall when you first accelerate and during city driving ,it would stall about 4 times and then would be days or weeks before doing it again, now it will not run over 5 seconds before it will die. I purchased the code reader from Walt and have gotten the codes, 126, 236, & 251. I replaced the vacum pump and glow plugs about 3 months ago.
I believe the cheap used PMD has went bad but, due to the codes, would like some professional advise before I purchase a new one from Walt.

Thanks,
pcflip

P126 Insufficient Coolant Temperature for Stable Operation
could be defect temp sender or cable

P236 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance
could be defect boost solenoid or broken vacuum hose

P251 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control "A" Malfunction (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
could be defect PMD or IP failure

First, you should check all negative grounds, vacuum hoses, connectors and cables if there is any damage. If not i would start replacing the cheapest thing (temp sender, boost solenoid, vacuum hose), check again and if no code appear, good if, check which codes and go on.

Will not run or will not crank or runs, but dies immedeately ? Fuel at the injectors ? 12V at fuel shutdown solenoid when igniton on ?

Please explain a bit more.

I've been working nights and have not been able to check the truck out.
Walt said earlier it could be the PMD, so I ordered a new one from him and installed it today and the truck is running just fine.
Thanks for all the info and help.
