Help codes 216--1214 will not clear.

Hello; I'm a new member and was finding the questions and advice forums very interesting to read. Some very helpful information is posted, and I'm hoping for some of that good advice myself.
I've been having some awful times lately. It started with the truck shutting down when I hit one of Bostons nice little pot holes, it had proggrested to doing it more often even on small bumps. We found and repaired or replaced some bad wiring and a few components, as follows: replaced crank sensor (crushed harness) ignition sw. harness (.8 volt to computer when stalled) input speed sensor (tested bad) rotted wire in harness at transmission. The truck still has 2 codes (216) injector time cont.&(1214)TDC time offset(holding solid). Any help to find resolve these the problems would surely be appreciated.


The truck is a 1996 Chevy K3500 Dually, AT, 4X4 ,6.5 turbo. Thanks and happy motoring Gregg.sr@hotmail.com

P1214 - Injection Pump Timing Offset

P0216 - Injection Timing Control Circuit

Use a Tech 2 scanner to check/learn the new TDC(Crankshaft Sensor).

This could be the reason.

Thank You for your reply, that procedure has been done. The problem still exist. Injector timing is off at idle to approx. 1500 RPM showing codes 216 +1214. I'm getting desperate for a cure. Need truck ,(moving). Any sugestions will be greatly appreciated.

Is the IP new installed ? If yes, it could be off a tooth, so the ECM register that the timing is off, as the code shows.

Anyone else some suggestions ?

The IP was installed 30,000 miles ago. Along with the other work previously stated was a new water punp ,and lube job. The truck also has Banks stinger kit (exaust, guages ,K&N etc.). Any more suggestions will be much appreciated .
