I have a 93 k3500 and i just put a brand new crate motor in with the 4" exhaust kit from ssdieselsupply and air intake mods, but it is hars to start in the mornings and i get a little puff of white smoke everytime i start it. Could this mean the timing is off or does my pump need to be turned up? Also on hard acceleration it only puts out a very small amount of black smoke you almost can't see it. pleas help! Thanks

Sounds like your cold advance is not working. On top of your IP there 2 terminals the one on the very top is the fuel shutoff the one on the side is the cold advance that one also is tied into high idle solenoid. The next time you start it cold put a jumper wire with 12v to the cold advance terminal and see how it starts then disconnect it after about 2 min. Let me know how it works out and we will go from there. As far as the black smoke goes it can be turned up but not till you have a boost and EGT guage.

The two wires on the pump one is pink and one is green. The green one has two wires going into the one conector and is pluged into the fathest terminal back if looking at the engine from the front. The pink one is plugged into the closet terminal. sSo should I switch them and try it that way?

The fuel shut off is the pink one on the horizontal part of the pump to the front. the cold advance is on the vertical part of the pump also the shut off terminal is the larger one they will not interchange!

Both of my terminals are verticle. But the bigger one with the pink wire is closes to the front. Will the truck run at all with either of the wires disconsected? Were do the wire run so I can check if they are conected in another place?

The pink heaver gage wire with larger vertical terminal that comes out of the TOP of pump cover toward the front is the fuel shutoff. It will not run with this wire off it will not turn the fuel on. The green lighter gage wire that splits off to the high idle solenoid goes on the smaller vertical terminal on the right (passenger)SIDE of the cover toward the read is the cold advance. When 12v is put to this solenoid it drops housing pressure to 0 psi and advances timing about 3 deg to help with starting and white smoke on cold starts. With this energized you will hear a definite diesel cackle that quites down when de energized.

Hey thanks a bunch! The wires are all conected right at the pump so i need to trace it down and find were it is disconected. Do you know were it goes to give me an idea? Will this help at all with power once working? Thanks for the help.

put a 12v hot wire to the cold advance terminal and see if it starts better. If it runs the pink wire is all set you said it jest starts hard correct?? The trouble is with the green wire. So hot wire it ,see what happens and we will go from there.

I will try that tomorrow and see if it works. If nothing changes then what?
