My 6.5 has a slight knock noticeably at idle...
I am contemplating Marine injectors.
Has anyone had any firsthand experience with these? Is there a noticeable increase in power/mileage? Do you feel they are worth the money? ($425).
Also, what other upgrades would you recommend? I have a 3" downpipe from the turbo with a 2.5" or 3" exhaust...would a 4" exhaust be a decent upgrade?
Thanks!

I just did marine injectors from Walt and yes there is more power especially at lower speeds and on full throttle there is a bit of black smoke I noticed more power on hills towing my 5th wheel RV and a bit more egt rise.
I would definately do the 4 inch exhaust and intake before any other mods.

Is the knocking at idle a result of bad injectors?
What type of intake would you recommend?
Does the #9 resistor do anything?
Thanks again!

The noise could be an injector
Check the product details on Walts site for more info on what each product does. Also check the testimonial colum for feedback from users of his products

I'm kinda looking for second opinions on some upgrades...
I checked on Heath diesel and I couldn't find anything to do with the #9 resistor...so I'm kindof wondering if it does anything.
The intake shown on SSDiesel says its a great upgrade, but I've heard from people, (1 firsthand experience), that since its drawing hot air in, it really doesn't do anything.
Also, the testimonials on the site appear to be with people who have done 2 or 3 upgrades at once, like in intake, resistor, and marine injectors. They say they have a power increase. My question is...is there a power increase with EACH upgrade? Does anyone have any dyno/ firsthand results with any of these upgrades?
Thanks!

The first thing I did was the intake and right away I noticed that the turbo spooled up a lot quicker then with the exhaust that rerally made a differance and getting hot air dosnt really cut it because you have a lot of air comming through the rad and wheel well, and remember every little thing you do helps the other things to work better.
As far as the resistor I really dont think it makes much difference by its self but for $25 you cant loose as long as you do the rest of the upgrades and to quote my daughter that was visiting from Alberta last week who used my truck told my wife who told me after she went home "wow mom I laid a strip with dads truck at an intersection it really hauls ass it has a lot more guts than my truck" she drives a 03 power stroke..I rest my case

Garth,
What intake did you get? I'm assuming it was the basic elbow with the cone filter behind the battery?

As far as I have been able to learn, though I am no expert, if you are considering the marine injectors you must have the resistor upgrade. The marine injectors allow more fuel to flow, but the computer wont send more fuel to the injector without the resistor to "reprogram" the fuel peramiters in the computer. So, with just the resistor there will likely be little to no noticable differance. Likewise, there will likely be a very small differance with just marine injectors. They work together. Hope that helps.

That makes sense...
I will talk to Bill to find out if I am going to need injectors. I don't want to put them in if I don't have to...but I'd rather do it then wreck something major...
