I am also thinking about getting the marine injectors. I've heard alot of talk about how they can improve your mileage but to me (what do I know....nothing about diesels) it just seems that if you put a larger injector that means more fuel which could mean less or poor mileage.

Those of you that have them... do you notice an improvement in your mileage?

Thanks.

You people new to the Diesel world have to stop thinking like gasoline people!!! Gasoline engines control power by controlling air flow with a throttle plate. Open the throttle plate more air flow more power, close the throttle plate less air less power. The gasoline that mixes with the air flow is controlled by the air flow. A diesel is controlled by fuel flow not air flow the more fuel the more power. Now think about this, a stock 6.5TD puts out 195HP. The truck takes 100HP to travel 70MPH at X amount of fuel now if you add more than X amount of fuel you make more power lets say 110HP the truck will now go faster but you want to go 70MPH so you back off the throttle to 100HP to go 70MPH. The marine injectors have the ability to put more fuel into the engine so now this engine will put out lets say 220HP but it still only needs 100hp to go 70MPH. Now lets go one step further the marine injector has a more efficient spray pattern so it needs less than X amount of fuel to make 100HP thus better mileage. Unless you like to play with the extra power and have your foot in it all the time yes you will use more fuel!! Every thing you do to a diesel to improve power and efficiency you will get better mileage as long as you drive it sensibly. Hope this clears things up. And yes if you need to replace your injectors the marine injectors are only a few dollers more than stock ones put them in. But iI wouldn't replace them to get more power if I had good injectors, only when I need new ones!!
