very slow...some help?

hey i just had some put i new driverside manifold on becuase the old one was leaking. and after i got the truck back is sounds a lot better, but it is very slow and sluggish. it also blows a MASSIVE amount of black smoke. i understand that there will be some smoke but i think i got too much coming out. if anyone has any ideas i could use them.the truck is a 97 k3500 diesel

Sounds like a waste gate issue....check to see if the vacuum line to it is attached, does your cruise control work? If it normally does and it isn't working now your vac. pump isn't working. Just one of the many fun adventures I've had with mine :) my $.02

I may have to put my money on a wastegate soleniod easy fix...like 40 bucks from walt
