Has anyone installed the 4" "quiet" muffler? is it really quiet?

I installed the 4" muffler that comes with the SS system and it is too loud for me.

Shows how old I"m getting.

I guess the old farts have a problem with the 4" straight through muffler. When I put the 4" system on my 2000 K3500 SRW it sounded great but it was to loud. My garage is under the house and when I backed it in the whole house rattled!!! I got a 4" universal straight through resonator from NAPA and installed in front of the muffler and it cut the noise way down but it still sounds great, deep and throaty without the decibels. Also it is where the catalytic converter was and it looks like catalytic converter. Humm. must be a CAT. Tomorrow if I remember at work I will look up the NAPA part # for you and I will post it tomorrow night. If you are a old fart like me I think you will like the sound and noise level. Us old farts have to stick together!!

Back in the day I had 4" pipes welded to glass packs exiting just behind the cab on a short bed stepside. I even got a ticket for excessive noise and was proud of it!!

Maybe thats why I have to put a funnel in my ear now to hear a conversation.

I'll be putting a Duramax system on my 94 soon. Someone gave me a cat back off a 06 crewcab with 3,000 miles on it. Looking at 3" downpipe and a dummy cat. Going to keep the big honkin Duramax muffler. I'm thinking it will be pretty quiet but flow much better than the 94 system.

Hey MBBOB the NAPA part# is 21464. Here are the specs 4" id in and out, 7" shell diameter, 12" shell length, 20" overall length. Like I said I put it in front of the muffler where the cat goes, it looks like a cat and it quites it down. It still has that nice deep throaty sound with out as many decibels. You can definitely hear it coming and going but without the rudeness. Also this a straight though design.

Hey Garth I love the sound also but not the decibels. I work in a noisy shop all day and my hearing is not what it use to be I don't need and more noise!! The Old Fart.
