I would like to get an aftermarket air intake for my truck. I am looking at the SSDiesel intake and the AFE (Advanced Flow Engineering) stage 2 cold air intake. Which is better? Does it make a difference that one has a heat shield (AFE) and the other (SSD) does not? How much of a HP and torque increase would I likely get? Any advise or experience would be a great help.

Thanks

Why to build your own Cold Air Intake ?

Look at this link :
Airbox Modification (http://www.kennedydiesel.com/airboxmods.html)

Than replace the oem filter element with a K&N filter element and drill about 10 to 15 holes with diameter about 1 inch in the bottom of this part of the airbox, which is screwed on the fender (remove before drilling) so that air that is sucked through these hole have to go trough the filter element. Do the other upgrades from the link and you have cold air and can hear your turbo scream.

Could be much cheaper and does the same or a better effect.
