I sold a set of super swampers on craigslist last night and the kid came over my house to pick them up in a 700hp 2002 7.3L f-350 that had nitrous, a turbonetics turbo (he said 60lbs of boost) 4" downpipe 5" exhaust, banks techni-cooler and stacked computers.

He runs 11 second 1/4's. And can spin all 4 35" tires in 4wd.

Our neighbor's brother had an 02 or 03 PowerStroke that had 4" straight pipe, cold air intake, and chip + programmer.... I don't know how much HP he had, but he too could rip all 4 tires (or so a third party told me.....) and did so...... until the cost of 3 speeding tickets AND a new tranny slowed him down!

:D

Me? If I wanted a muscle truck, I'd get a 95 chevy body, or a 06 Dodge body (my two favorite truck body styles) and drop a 12 Liter Inline 6 Mercedes semi-truck engine in it..... 600hp & 1300 ft-lbs torque....... No chips required! :D

Nick D'Amico out in So Cal is dyno'ing right at 840 HP and 1,450 lb/ft of torque at the ground with his D-Max using only #2 and no nitrous!! He's ran 10.2's at over 135 mph consistantly with his K2500HD extended cab. There are plenty of Max's, Jokes, and 5.9's out there that are running 750 - 850 streetable HP just by going with an aftermarket intake, 4-5" exhaust, a tuner and/or downloader, and upgraded injectors. We spend 2 grand to get to 300HP, 60 short of their stock. They spend 2 grand, and get an extra 200 -300 HP!!

Why? Because they have Direct Injection and Common Rail Electronic Fuel Injection, and we have 1st generation Indirect injection (IDI) pre-combustion chambers in the head, and electrically timed mechanical fuel injection.

Read my past threads on the subject, it would be relatively easy to drop D-Max pistons and rods into a 6.5, we just need to get an aftermarket DI head for our block developed (perhaps Alabama Cylinder Head Exchange?) and use the D-Max common-rail system. All that we would then need would be a stand alone injection computer, or reflashing the OBD II or 94-5 chip to run the DI system. Did you know that the 6.5 and D-max engine sensor main harness connectors are the same?! Forged steel cranks, and convert to 4-bolt splayed mains, and we could crank 500 HP out of our 6.5's!!

Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to drop in a duramax?

I live up here in the Woodsy Northwest and everyone is about big diesel trucks!! A guy stopped by my buddies shop with an 07 Dodge Cummins twin turbo pumping a suposive 1100HP.. He spooled it up and did a power braking burnout for about 2 minutes and then he blew the head gasket and bellowed out clouds of white and black smoke for about 20 minutes!! Best laugh all week!!

No. You would need a complete donor vehicle. Swap D-Max, Allison, ECM, all harnesses, dash. Frame/suspension/body mods (the D-max is longer, wider, taller, heavier than 6.5, the Allison is also compared to 4L80E). Total cost professional conversion: $16-17,000. Cost for a decent 2002 2500HD D-Max? About the same.

Have a buddy with a 5.9. He radically chipped it, but had left everything else stock (exhaust, intake, injectors, e-manifold, etc). Showing off one night, after several hard light to light runs, he had his exhaust manifold, drive-side of the turbo, and down pipe glowing cherry red from massive overfueling. In the next run, he destroyed his head, cracked his manifold, and melted his turbo. See my previous post about him for details. EGT's DO matter!

Sounds like he should have spent the extra money and had his head/block prepped for fire rings to keep from blowing his head gasket onder that much boost (For 1100 HP he would have had to of been running 90+ lbs of boost.
