Un sure, Would you guys sugguest that I drain it changed the filter and put fresh oil in? I'll try and find out what type of tranny it is. thanks!

i'm guessing your talking about an auto? My 93 shifts hard from 1st to 2nd but not all the time. I'll shut it off and restart it and it will shift fine for the next month or 2, then it will shift hard again for some reason. Had it looked at and no problem was found, just a shift code in the computer

The 4L80E is computer controlled. If it senses slippage or something wrong it will go into "limp in mode" and increase line pressure to protect itself. This causes very firm shifts. When you shut it off it resets itself and it goes back to normal till it senses it again or after so many shifts it might reset.

my 94 wouldn't shift out of 1st every now and then...until i restarted the truck. so i changed the tranny oil and filter and it hasn't happened since.

yeah, i going to send it to the local chevy dealer, and have them change the fluid and filter, i dont have the time to deal with it at the moment. I know im gonna get boned but they do a good job and help our family out alot, we have purchased many trucks from them and so has the rest of my family!
