I've got hesitation/loss of power mid pedal with the 80 hp chip installed. Also feels like my trans is jumping in/out of gear. Makes it offly hard to go up hills when you lose part of your throttle and when you get on the other side of this hesitation/deadspot its almost full throttle..........

Why when I put my stock chip back in everything is normal?!?!?!?!

Update:
E-mailed Walt he said he would straighten it out. Whew!!!!

I had the same problem with my 80 hp chip I bought about 2 weeks ago. Did you get your situation straightened out?

I edited my CP to give some info on my truck. I shipped the chip back 5/31/07 have not received a new one back. Like you, I put my old chip back in and the truck ran normal. That weekend I towed my 30ft 5th wheel on a 4 hr trip with no issues. I was really looking forward to having the additional HP. I have done a lot of upgrades this year to get to the point where I could add the HP.

Just to be clear...

I have received top notch service from SSdiesel so far, so I want to make clear I am only dealing with an "Out of Box Failure". I called SSDiesel and received a call back within the hour asking me to email the details to Walt, who also responded within the hour telling me to return the part. It has only been a week since I sent the chip back, so I am patiently awaiting a positive outcome.

From what Walt said they aren't done In house. It is a distributor that he gets them from. Hopefully they can resolve our issues. I find it kind of interesting though that our vehicles are both 95s and both have the BPAA chips.

Guys,

First off, the forum is not a means to contact SSDiesel Supply. If you need technical assistance, use the contact page on the website or write walt@ssdieselsupply.com
I set up this forum as a means of exchanging info among yourselves, not as a way to reach me. Garth is the moderator and I only check in once in a while. Email me please with any questions. I answer 150+ email per day M-F all within 24 hours or less. If you don't get an answer within a day, a) you left the wrong email address to contact you, b) your spam blocker is filtering our my response, c) you wrote on a weekend when we are closed and I am wrenching out in my garage!

Chips are very susceptible to static electricity. One tiny zap from your fingertip will damage memory. Even your stock chip can be damaged the same way. Always ground yourself before handling a chip. Sometimes they can be damaged in shipping too. We ship in anti-static containers, but that only goes so far. ANYONE that has returned a chip to us is taken care of in a timely manner. No exceptions. We gladly re-burn them under warranty whether your fault or ours. We take care of our customers, but I am sure you already know that if you have bought from us previously. I am at the mercy of the factory, so please just don't expect it back tomorrow, but you will be taken care of, you have my word on that!

I actually have purchased the equipment to burn our own chips, including software. I was quite an investment. I just need to find the time to get started. Right now I work 5-16 hours days and then 8 more hours over the weekend. As soon as I have the time to learn, we will be doing them in house and turn around time will improve greatly.

For now I am looking to switch suppliers to help with the 2 week turn around time now needed to make a chip.

I will check the status of JDCude's chip tomorrow to verify when received, and PrimerK5 was only mailed to us Friday and not yet received. Please give us a fair chance to take care of any issues.

I will say Walt your message came off a little defensive. If you look at my quote you will see I have no issue what so ever with your service. I know that as a successful business owner you work hard. I am a Biomedical Engineer with over 30 years experience servicing electronics and I don't service any device that contains electronics with out using a ground strap. I also know that sometimes stuff just don't work. I don't have any problem waiting a few weeks for you to turn the part around. Good luck with your new setup, and I look forward to enjoying the results.

There is no complaints on my end here. This was posted only to enquire with other people to see if any body had the same problems that I was expriencing at the time. I was hopeing it was an easy fix and maybe someone else had run into the same problem could walk me through fixing it so I could straighten it out on my own. I have no complaints on you or your company. Nor have I complained about the products or service. If I had known I would push someones nerves because of a question I don't think I would be posting on this site. Neither of us has complained about any of the turn-around time it takes to work out this issue either.

Update:

I find no record of receiving JDCude's chip in our receiving records and I asked him tonight for a tracking number. We will work with him all we can to locate his package, and take care of him the best we can.

Primerk5's was received today and instead of a re-burn, I am ordering in a new completely chip from a different mfg (at my full expense) to our specs, just in case there were quality issues involved, being as they were both the same code chip that had issues, it may be more then coincidence.

I got mine today and Installed it. Talk about a different truck. Its not a night and day difference but it definately has more go than it ever had. I'll be towing with it this weekend. That will be the real test. Gotta see what those exhaust temps get up too..

This is what i seemt o hear a bit. The 80hp chip made a difference but not night and day.

80hp is a big hp gain that should be night and day. Where do these numbers of 80hp come from, was that vehicle already modded and then the chip was added? As to say maybe it had injector, air, exaust mods then the chip?

Im really interested since that is my next mod and i only got 3" exaust and air filter and cooling upgrades.

I just got back from a weeks vacation camping in lake George today and the chip was on the door step. I will install the chip as soon as I can figure out what went wrong with my truck. On the way back the truck started hitching and sputtering under load, I think it is the PMD? I will search old posts and see if I can find the problem in there if not I will post the question. The 48 plate tranny cooler and fan worked like a dream towing long tall hills, not once over 180 degrees on the tranny temp! I got some pics of the install I will post.

Thanks Walt!

I posted a repy in another thead but I wanted to "Finalize" this one. I put the chip in and there was a definite improvement in my midrange power with better more appropriate shifting. I took a couple of weeks to get the whole thing straightened out but SSDiesel did as promised and provided a good working chip in a timely fashion inspite of the shipping debacle. I soon hope to install the marine injectors, and intercooler to take full advantage of all of my mods.
