I'm orderin new injectors since my original ones have 165,000 miles on them and Walt said I should just go with marine injectors for more power and better mileage but, will I notice a difference if any without a bigger resisitor (#9), and if I just do the injectors will they put any strain on my fuel pump w/o the resistor??

i have a 1993 gmc with the pump turned up and mine i took out had 145000 miles on them and i went with the marine injector for the same reason you have been told and it is not going to hurt to get them if u are needing new one anyway but just to go buy them because there a good bang for your buck no way. i think why people say i am making more power and better fuel milage with my new injectors because they are replacing a wore out set of injectors and they have forgot what that set was like when they were new.:D

You WILL get about 40 more horses and better milage with marine vs stock injectors, especially if you #9 resistor, or turn up your mechanical IP.

Marine injectors have more orifices in the nozzle than stock. They flow more fuel, and atomize a finer spray than stock. In a diesel, more fuel burned is more power, increasing the engine's efficiency. More efficient = less throttle to maintain speed = better fuel economy.

For a lesson in diesel engine theory and operation, see any of the several posts that sixnickel and I have done concerning the subject.

It is not uncommon to pick up 1-2 mpg by switching to marine injectors, just don't lose it by putting your foot into your new-found power.

P.S. No harm to your IP, but replacing the stock resistor with the #9 will increase your fuel delivery about 6%, which the marine injectors will appreciate, as will turning up your mechanical pump.

i disagree on some points, my understanding is marine pop at about 200psi higher than stock which is supposed to give better atomization leading to a better burn leading to better mileage. and how is one supposed to use a #9 resistor on a mechanical pump. mechanical pumps don't have electronics. i also have doubts about 40hp. if only it was that easy. i have HO injectors and when they were installed i noticed a definite difference in sound which probably resulted in a definate increase in power. i suspect they say 40hp based on the injectors being removed are stock and OLD. aka well used. that said you would notice a difference with stock injectors but hey i'd say spend the money. it'll help the puter or chip if you upgrade. on my 93, i added all my mods at once, so what actauuly gain my mpgs, i cant say for sure but i do know this.
The Govoner spring rusted fast in pump. Old injectors junk, at least two were bad by sight, no pressure to test myself, but had injector knock also.. Befor the upgrades, power was ok, mpgs 8-13 never any better avg probly 10. After the upgrades Power is Much better mpgs 16-18 no matter how i drive it, sounds awsome so ya i run it pretty hard. Starts better runs quiter, and have since started adding 2 stroke oil and has quited the engine more, and has helped keep my mpgs in the 17-18 avg. When pulling a 14,000 pound trailer i had more power and was able to keep 13.5 mpg. Before the mods i had never pulled a trailer. i didn't trust the truck till after the mods. At first i had stock boost, 8 was max i had high egts. I made mechanical wastgate (worth double every penny spent) Now with 12-14 psi its got power, and low enough egts to be considered pretty darn tough. Now its time to get a new turbo, and keep moddin.
