i recently sent in a problem i am having with the truck shutting off i received several responses on it.i have no fuel leaking anywhere that i can see or feel.my fuel reads 3 to 4 psi at idle, and when the accelerater is pushed the fuel pressure drops is that normal?also someone mentioned a pmd or heat sync........what is that and how could that be linked to the shutting off problem that i have........... thanx again

Fuel pressure drops when accelerator pressed ? sound like a bad lift pump.

As you can see from Sven's pictures, the PMD (Pump Mounted Driver) is mounted on the side of the injection pump. It amplifies the computer signal to drive the stepper motor that controls your injection pulses. PMD fails = no fuel inject = no run no more! They do it because it eventually overheats mounted to the IP. Your engine will just shut down, be hard to (re)start, run erratically, and it will do this randomly. Once it goes bad, replace it, and mount it on a cooler. Also, check Walt's FAQ section on his SS Diesel Supply web site for more information, just click above on the SS Diesel Logo.
Hope this helps.
