1997 G20 van 240,000 miles, SSDiesel FSD Cooler, new turbo at 215,000:

Immediately after an oil change (within 500 feet of leaving the shop) the engine "shut off" for a split second twice within about 10 second, engine never shut off completely (I did not have to restart it), just like I lifted off throttle for a split second and then hit it again.

3 days later I went into my bank and left van running, came out 5 minutes later and engine was off (key still in "ON").

Then 2 days later as I was backing into driveway I felt a "surge" in throttle, enough to dig into gravel drive for about 1/2 foot before I lifted off throttle then acted normal again. I also noticed that when the guy was pulling van into oil change shop the van seemed to "surge" forward on him too, but I figured he was just not used to vehicle, and didn't think anything of it.

Another thing it is doing (just started in past 2 weeks) is it is running very cold on coolant temp gauge, (but boost and EGT is normal) unless engine is under load (highway speed with AC on). I was planning to change the thermostats, figured they were hanging/stuck, but if cooling system is under heavy load (highway, AC on hot day) the temp seems to climb above normal level, similar to issue I had before I changed turbo??

No trouble codes tripped.

Is this a failing PMD, Throttle position sensor, something new, or combination??? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Frank

Could be the PMD, COULD ! The easiest way to find out is,try with an other PMD if possible. Could be an ground problem also.

Could be a little air getting into the fuel line, that is good for creating a surge.
