Question: What is the official or book rate for the number of hours to perform an R & R of a long block, which includes swapping over the parts from old long block to new one?

Also, how many hours has it taken any of you that have or do it?

I am in the process of changing out my engine. I am taking care and being thorough. Cleaning bolts and parts, replacing many with new… It has been fun:) except the bell housing bolts:eek: but man it is taking a lot of time.

If you've got somebody who's done it before i'd say you and a friend or two could do it in one long day (like 10-12 hours including a meal or two, breaks, etc). Provided you have access to the proper tools. (mostly deep sockets metric and standard, a few universal joints, extensions, a lift, and a breaker bar).

If you are shooting from the hip it might take you all weekend, or 2 weekends because you will inevitably forget something and realize it later and backtrack a few times. There's always that possibility of that one bolt that just wont come out, be prepared to get a set of those bolt extractors from sears, they are expensive but anybody who's used them can tell you they're worth they weight in gold.
