when it is new in the box is ok if the needle moves up and down between 0 and 300 degrees

meaning its still in the box? or its all hooked up and its flying all over the place?

I hadn't hooked it up yet and the needle is kinda moving alittle bit I don't think that there is anything wrong with it but I was just wondering

its normal for unpowered gauges to do their own thing. I wouldnt worry about it.
