Code 36 is Injection Pulse Width Error Response Time Long. Good chance you fuel soleniod is crappin out. It is mounted on the back of the IP. How many miles on your current IP? You can replace the fuel solenoid, but it might be time for a new IP.

What are you refering to when you say that the IP might be bad. I have a 95 chevy suburban and i got similar codes. pulse width response time too short then pulse width response time too long. I figured mine was pmd, cause would not start after that, connected my friends pmd and it cranked rightup. Now I have ordered a FSD Cooler and new PMD to install but you are scarring me saying that it might be the IP.....What is an IP???

Well if the change of PMD solved it then that was the fault. Seems like the computer diagnosis is as bad as that, of a lot mechanics. IP is injector pump.

IP is the injection pump... they're a pita, and famous for crapping out.

Also wrongly blamed for defects caused by other things, PMD faults being only one of them.

Code 36... injection pulse width error (long). Before spending any money, you should probably know that lack of fuel lubricity can cause this code, and does (fairly often). What are you running for fuel additives?

If you have a code 36 and it keeps coming back when you clear it, put about 16 oz of powerservice grey (additive) into your tank, along with about 16 0z of 2-stroke oil. Then fill up with #2 diesel. Chances are good that one tankful will make the code go away; if not, do it again.

You should be running additive in every tank; once that code goes away, reduce the mix to 8 oz of each, in every tank. It'll help your mileage, so don't worry about the cost of the additive; it balances out.

IF this doesn't fix things, you haven't lost anything. Your next thing to check is PMD (which MAY cause code 36, but unlikely), and finally changing the IP.

Codes 35/36 aren't that big a deal, most of the time.

i have a 94 6.5T it wasnt starting so i did some research sounded like i needed a new PMD. so i bought one that mounted it outside my engine away from the heat. truck started right up, took it for a 2 mile test drive got home everything seem to be fixed. later that night went to get in it to leave and it wouldnt start. cranked it over 2-3 times and it started idles smooth but then it just all of sudden died. Im just a college kid trying to figure this all out. does anybody know whats going on with my Truck????
