I had a major problem with my 94 6.5 Dually. One day I was driving and got home and the truck started to stall, I gave it some gas and the thing went redline. I pulled the key out of the ignition and the damn thing kept running at redline until finally it slowly came down and shut off. (Black smoke every where) I let the thing sit overnight and it started the next morning for a while then shutoff. I replaced the injector pump and I went to start it and it started up fine. I did not have the water inlet gaskets so I had to go and buy some from the factory. When I got back home I put the gaskets on and the damn thing wouldn't start. It just cranks, and cranks, and cranks. I have bled the fuel lines and run down two batteries and still nothing. I have had the truck since 94 and do not want to get rid of it but it is costing a lot of money. Thinking of swapping out to my 383 stroker that I have, but someone told me that is quite a bit of work to convert. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.
Modifactions performed: 5/7 Drop, KMC Slam Wheels, Cold Air Intake, New PMD and #9 Resistor, FSD Heat Sync

Wow I have not gotten one response since august 14th. Can anyone tell me what is going on?? I thought I would at least get one response regarding my problem. Walt said that it was the glow plugs. Who knows, has anyone tried to convert from diesel to gas????? How hard is it? Thanks for any reply.

Strange I didn't see your first post, perhaps it got lost. Check all your connections, maybe you disconnected something when changing the gaskets.

I checked all connections and nothing seems to be unplugged. Would it be something electrical or could something have failed in the pump that I got from Walt. Is there any way to test the pump to rule it out?? Thanks.

Your first problem is a mistery to me, but for the no start, it could be lack of fuel in the pump or the injector lines, it is necessary to open at least two lines to let the pump bleed.

I installed a new injector pump on my 93 a month ago. After that i had hard hot starting but it started. After much questioning on this site and walt, i ended up finding out that my ops was bad, no lift pump operation, and then still same trouble. Ended up being a bad battery. Seems as if the new IP needs more voltage to operate fuel solenoid properly. My cranking speed was faster than ever, but couldnt get enough voltage to the fuel solenoid. If fuel solenoid doenst open enough you will get smoke from tailpipe, but wont run. If you have spent any amount of time cranking it over tryin to start, batts may be dischared enough to not have enough for both cranking and fuel solenoid. Just a thought.

Considering that the engine originally had throttle run away, the PMD, thottle pedal sensor and Computer are under suspicion. I guess you are not geting any codes? Another thought, if you haven't disconnected the batteries since the first problem there may be a code in the computer, use a paper clip and see if there are any.
