So when I get home from working in Cali, I'd like to re-try doing the pass side injectors. I've been told that there are tabs holding on the heat shield that is held on by the 2 small screws up top. Whats the best way to get to these tabs? I'm going to try this with the turbo on, simply because I like a challange.

Any other tips?

Its a lot easier to just remove the turbo then try to work around it. First loosen the turbo downpipe clamp and let the pipe drop out of the way. Then remove the 4 bolts holding the turbo to the exhaust manifold. Remove the oil feed line to the top of the turbo and loosen the clamps of the oil drain line back to the crankcase. Remove the turbo. If a good wrench, its about a 20-30 minute job.

you can do them without removing the turbo completely using a breaker bar and the GM injector socket(no room for a ratchet head), but i wouldn't recommend it if you don't like bleeding. but if you don't have a torch to heat up the turbo bolts you may have to work around it. as far as the heatshield goes, it's just notched to fit onto tabs, you unscrew the 2 screws and pull up on it and it comes off. i had to remove the oil return line from the bottom of turbo for socket clearance, and i also took the back half of the turbo with the wastegate in it off and moved it out of the way. make sure you disconnect the batteries when doing it this way though, i found this out the hard way when the turbo clamp almost welded itself to the a/c line in the fenderwell. also when reinstalling the heat shield you must watch out for the rubber fuel lines getting caught up. it took me roughly one hour to do all 4 on the left side, and almost 4 hours to do the ones on the pass. side.

We had a lot of this discussion yesterday and the day before under the "marine injector" thread
