Well Im finally getting around to posting pics of my 98 3500HD. Ive had it sence october. Its got 156,000 miles on it now. It doenst have to many mods. Just an open element air filter on the stock tube, a #9 resistor, instant heat glow plugs, 285/75/16 Firestone Destination MTs. It has 4.10 gears and the G80 limited slip differential from the factory. All but having to replace the injection and vacuum pumps its been a pretty good truck. Im still trying to find the milage though. Ive only been getting 13.5-14.5mpg out of it. But there it is. Hope you like it as much as I do.

nice truck
id say that part of the reason for the poor fuel mileage is the big gears in the diffs. i get around 20 mpg in my 96 2500 but im pretty sure its got 3.90's in the rear diff.

Are you compensating your miles for the 285 s ? It may be 6% better than you think.( figure is based on 3 point something for the 265s) Also around town your mpg looks OK to me, and are you lead footing, it makes them hungry?

Thanks for the complements guys. No actually im not compensating for the tires. I didnt think they would change the speedo that much. Do I multiply my miles traveled by 6%? I have a pretty light foot with it. Its slower than evolution (im used to my 12 second camaros) so I know not to be in a hurry when I drive it. And sence I fixed my vacuum pump and loose MAP sensor connection it doesnt smoke at all so it doesnt even look cool when Im on the throttle :P So Ive been driving like grandpa most of the time. Thanks again guys.

Yes, multiply your miles by 1.06 and that will get you near enough. I checked mine against the "speedo distance check" markers on the highway and found it was 2.3% out as opposed to the theoretical 3%.

Nice rig....really makes me miss my old 97 k2500 gasser. Still in the market for a good 6.5 truck, looking for something the same as yours.
