hey guys. I just added a tranny temp gauge to my freshly rebuilt 4l80e in my 93 K2500 6.5TD 4X4. What kinda tranny temps should this thing run? Mine at crusin speed holds around 230-235 F. 240 changes to yellow on my gauge so I'm fairly sure its too darn hot. Doesn't matter what the outside temp is cause it runs the same wheather its 95 durring the day or 65 at night. Added a Transgo stage 2 shift kit, new low stall torque converter all new dextron III from Napa and a bottle of Lubegaurd. It does have the typicall tranny cooler that hooks to the radiator, flushed out cooler before installing new tranny. Engine runs at the line between 100 and 210. so it seems to be running plendy cool. Any thoughts? Thanks.

My suburb has an added cooler and the temp does not get to 150 except very slow driving for a long time reaches 170. I disconnected the radiator trans cooler on the notorious 700R4 of the Chev and put one also in the grill area like the burb and it now has 175,000 miles on that transmission. The original lasted 55,000 miles. I saw a post that said 240 is maximum.

Something is not right. I know this is gonna scare you, but i had one trans that ran in the 220 temp, it only lasted 2,500 miles. Output shaft endplay wasnt set properly (was way 2 tight). You might have a torque converter that isnt locking up properly also. Better check it out.
