Im not sure if this is normal for everyone.. I have been ignoring it for a while now , but when i flick the blinker on the battery meter jumps from the middle of the gauge to left a little, you can notice it, almost looks like it jumps one or two notches in the meter... And my truck will also jump up 500-1000 rpms (almost as if the motor is surging?) if i go from Park to Drive occasionally not sure if there is a short in the steering column somewhere?

Most likely your ignition switch is failing, common problem. Also the connector pins on all of the plugs in the dash area become oxidized and need cleaning. I have just done the ones for the lights and air cond. due to malfunctions.

Ahh just as i was suspecting to, so that could also cause the motor to jump up and then back down once in a blue moon?

Electrical bad connections can cause strange things to happen, so starting with cleaning connectors then try a new switch.

Thats the contacts oxidized that the plug fits onto. my recirc began switching on and off, pull the instrument panel suround off and unscrew the air control panel and sand paper the pins at the back of it.
